Time together feels right when nothing intrudes. When places offer calm, embrace history, and allow closeness. Our romantic castle hotels in Austria and beyond tell stories of love. Schloss Mittersill: Where even Coco Chanel fell in love

Some places become retreats. Others become places you return to. For fashion icon Coco Chanel, Schloss Mittersill was both. High above the Salzach Valley she found peace – and a love that made history. With Baron Hubert von Pantz, the castle’s owner at that time, she shared a very special romance. Quiet, private, away from any public stage. Not loud, not spectacular. Very still. And tangible to this day.

Coco Chanel came back to Mittersill again and again. Because of him. And because of a place that inspired her. Thoughts were allowed to dwell there, lines to take shape. To this day Schloss Mittersill is considered the place where her ideas matured – gentle impulses that later became the clear signature of the legendary Chanel jacket. A place that provided space – for a woman who shaped the world outside, but here could simply be herself.

Between fireside room, panorama pool, and private sauna

Schloss Mittersill has long been a refuge. For artists, thinkers, and people seeking distance – and finding closeness. Maybe it is the location, maybe the ancient walls, maybe the rooms that have heard so many conversations. The firelit lounges. The salons that ask for nothing but time. Or the places where warmth deepens that quiet – the heated year-round outdoor pool or the private sauna with its own relaxation room. Schloss Mittersill invites you to simply be. Together.

Schloss Schönbrunn Grand Suite: When the palace belongs to you alone

Here, romance means one thing above all: just two people in a place otherwise shared by many. In the Grand Suite at Schloss Schönbrunn in Vienna, you experience this UNESCO World Heritage Site after hours – when the gates close and the palace falls silent. What is a public stage by day becomes an intimate space by night .

One palace. Two people. And the stillness after the last footstep.

An overnight stay here means moving through historic rooms without the general public in attendance. You experience Schönbrunn not as a visitor, but as a guest – with time, stillness, and the sense of being part of history for a precious moment or two. A carriage ride through the gardens of Schönbrunn complements the experience in its own special way. Slowly winding through the historic park, it draws you into Vienna’s past, leaves time for conversation, and frames shared moments for two.

Hotel Landgasthof Linde: A getaway for wellness & romance in Zillertal

Ancient walls. A young linden tree in the courtyard – unfortunately, the mighty tree that lent its name to this place succumbed to a storm some time ago. Stumm Castle right next door. Landgasthof Linde in Zillertal is surrounded by history. By quiet. By warmth. And that is precisely where its understated romance is rooted.

Warmth, Water & Winter Air

In the outdoor pool – heated year-round – and the Linden SPA, togetherness becomes tangible. Warm water under the open sky, sheltered spaces for complete relaxation, time spent without strict schedules and without having to rush. Conversations are sparked, pauses grow longer, closeness finds a pace of its own.

The way to a person's heart ...

In the no-frills, award-winning gourmet cuisine of Landgasthof Linde, togetherness takes culinary form. Old recipes, reimagined. Rustic ingredients from their own farm, crowned with accolades – and served with a healthy helping of love you can clearly sense.

Schloss Leopoldskron: Great feelings, great history

As a shooting location for "The Sound of Music", Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg became part of a love story that has touched generations and reaches far beyond the film. Images and melodies engraved themselves into memory – and still shape the atmosphere of the house to this very day .

Between palace gardens, a lake, and timeless romance

A stroll through the palace gardens, a glance across the small lake, the gentle reflection of the façade upon the water. Leopoldskron is a place that comes to rest when you stay awhile. Conversations grow more personal, moments more conscious. Culture and romance meet here as a matter of course.

Inside, the Max Reinhardt Library reveals itself as a space of special intimacy. Thoughts find the space they need to evolve, feelings their depth. A place where great stories began – and new ones are born

Schloss Hellbrunn: Experience together. Feel the closeness.

From Schloss Leopoldskron, the story leads to Schloss Hellbrunn. The gazebo from The Sound of Music, now standing here, has long become more than a movie reference. It has become a place where stories continue to be written – and one of Salzburg’s most extraordinary wedding venues.

When experiences bring people together

Schloss Hellbrunn stands for romance that grows through shared experiences. The famous trick fountains, the museum, changing exhibitions – closeness here is born not in silence, but through shared discovery. Through laughter. Wonder. Through moments enjoyed together – moments that will endure.

Hotel Elizabeth Trenčín: Romanticism with distinction

Here, romance is not just a feeling, but a promise – and an official one at that: Hotel Elizabeth was named ‘Slovakia's Most Romantic Hotel’ at the 2021 World Luxury Hotel Awards. And it's easy to see why. The historic Art Nouveau building is located in the heart of Trenčín, directly below the medieval castle – a place that doesn't need to create atmosphere because it already has it.

Candlelight, views and lots of 'just us'

The hotel offers intimate opportunities for togetherness that have become rare: a romantic candlelit bath, completely private. Dinner in the VIP lounge – or even more special: at the viewing point on the fourth floor, with views of the castle rocks, Trenčín Castle and the city. A personal waiter discreetly accompanies the evening, and in case of bad weather, the elegant VIP 1 salon awaits. The rooms and suites can also be romantically prepared on request – with decorations, fruit and sparkling wine.

When romance becomes a promise

And because some stories continue: The Hotel Elizabeth is also a venue for engagements and weddings. Our own wedding planners and coordinators accompany couples from the initial ideas to the big day, with sensitivity, experience and a sense for special moments. This is how romance becomes a promise – and togetherness becomes a shared beginning.

Our romantic hotels provide space for closeness. For a romantic getaway, Valentine’s Day, or simply time for each other. They tell stories – and allow new ones to unfold. One line at a time. Quietly. And very personally.
