Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron
Salzburg - Salzburg - Austria
Standing right next to an idyllic pond and just a few minutes walk from Salzburg's old town, castle hotel Leopoldskron is a true jewel, preserved in its original state, home to many tales and secrets going back to Mozart’s time.
With 55 rooms in the Meierhof, 12 suites in the historic palace, and two townhouses, Schloss Leopoldskron is an exclusive and discreet hideaway just a few minutes from the Old Town of Salzburg. Built in 1736, and surrounded by 17 acres of manicured grounds, Schloss Leopoldskron is nestled by a small, idyllic lake, and features majestic views of the mountains and the Hohensalzburg Fortress.
Schloss Leopoldskron was commissioned as a family estate in 1736 by the Prince Archbishop of Salzburg, Leopold Anton Freiherr von Firmian. In 1918, the Schloss was sold to Max Reinhardt, Europe’s most famous theater director and co-founder of the Salzburg Festival. In 1947 three Harvard students conceived the idea of organizing seminars for Europeans and Americans at the Schloss, resulting in the first Salzburg Global Seminar “session”. In 1964 the Schloss made it to the big screen when it was used for the filming of “The Sound of Music”.
Stay and Reside
In early 2014, the Meierhof, formerly the administration building of the Schloss, was renovated, leaving nothing but the historic ambiance and exclusive atmosphere unchanged. Beginning 2017, the 12 suites will also undergo thorough renovations, again preserving the palace’s unique atmosphere. All rooms are inclusive of full buffet breakfast served in the elegant halls of the Schloss, a bottle of mineral water, Wi-Fi, use of bicycles and the fitness center, mini golf, welcome drink (at the adjacent Weiher Wirt restaurant), parking, and access to the adjacent swimming pool (seasonal). Additionally, all suites are inclusive of a bottle of prosecco, fresh fruit, and flowers on arrival, magazines and daily cake and coffee/tea in the Meierhof Café.
Celebrate and Meet
Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron has always been predestined as a retreat for intellectual inspiration and glamorous events, offering nine meeting rooms for up to 130 delegates and a variety of elegant function rooms from 60 to 175 square meters. It is the perfect setting for seminars, conferences, meetings, events, weddings and other glorious gatherings.
