Where the mountain belongs to the house
Where the first run of the day begins right outside your door – and the evening winds down gently within old walls. Where the mountain isn’t some excursion destination, but rather a next-door neighbor. Where you are in the middle of all the goings-on yet still able to find the peace & quiet you long for. Between Tyrol, Salzburg, and South Tyrol lie four Schlosshotels united by exactly this: their closeness to the slopes, to wintertime, and to the moment.

Ansitz Felsenheim: Ski holidays on the sunny side of the Zugspitze
In the heart of the Alps. Timeless, individual, and understated. Ansitz Felsenheim enjoys one of the most privileged winter locations of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena: at the edge of the Lermoos basin, slightly elevated, and with an unobstructed view of the surrounding peaks. It has stood here for the past 300 years – eye to eye with, though at a respectful distance from the rugged rock faces of the Zugspitze, while winter itself reaches right up to the doorstep.
Where ski lift and toboggan run start right outside the front door
Multiple ski areas and an extensive network of pistes in and around Lermoos open up a winter panorama that ranges from gentle, wide hills to some truly challenging runs. In between lie snowparks, freeride routes, quiet winter hiking paths and snowshoe trails, cross-country ski trails and ski-touring routes.
For families, too, winter at Ansitz Felsenheim is an absolute joy. The Lermoos and Snowpower ski schools – with their friendly mascots Bobo and Moosle – are just a few minutes’ walk away, while the toboggan run starts right by the house. And when the lifts have stopped running, a big playroom under the rafters and a billiard room in the basement await – places where the magic of wintertime seem virtually endless. For adults, the quieter part of the day begins beneath the historic vaults of the house. Where the coal cellar lay 300 years ago, you will now discover a small wellness area with steam bath, Kneipp pool, and Finnish sauna – all heated by the eco-friendly bio-heating plant in Lermoos. On the floating loungers in the relaxation room, you are able to wind down in total peace before your next exciting day on the pistes gets underway again the following morning.

Das Bergschlössl: Private luxury by the piste in St. Anton
Located in the heart of St. Anton and directly adjacent to the piste, the Bergschlössl – operated by the Mossbrugger family – combines an exceptional location with the privacy of a luxury chalet. Only eight rooms fill this small boutique hotel, a setting that creates a peaceful space and the kind of retreat you rarely find in a vibrant ski destination such as St. Anton. Valley stations, the village center, and the slopes that define this place are only a few steps away – as are the ski school, children’s ski school, ski rentals, and ski service. Right on time for the World Championships back in 2001, the Basecamp was added as well: a ski bar by the piste that has long since become more than a classic après-ski “watering hole.”
Where the day of skiing pauses for a moment
Basecamp, at the valley station of the Gampenbahn lift, is a meeting place, wine bar, and small restaurant all in one. The menu is intentionally kept small: homemade pasta, Austrian pastries, antipasti, hearty soups, ravioli, and the Basecamp Burger – every dish bearing the unmistakable signature of a kitchen that allows for time, care, and attention.

Schloss Mittersill: Winter between panorama and piste
Enthroned high above the Salzach Valley is Schloss Mittersill, opening out onto a landscape that stretches from the gentle domes of the Kitzbühel “Grass Mountains” to the striking peaks of the Kitzbühel Alps and Hohe Tauern. Only a few minutes lie between the castle and the KitzSki ski region, which spans Kitzbühel, Kirchberg, and Pass Thurn. A complimentary shuttle connects the hotel with the valley station of the Panoramabahn several times a day during the winter months, making the start of your skiing day effortless. And for those who want to go higher still or venture farther afield, two more alpine classics lie within easy reach: the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and the Kitzsteinhorn.
Off-piste: Winter hiking, cross-country skiing & the world’s longest floodlit toboggan run
Away from the pistes, the region reveals its quiet, expansive side. Ski tourers will find numerous routes in the Kitzbühel Alps and Hohe Tauern National Park – accompanied, on request, by mountain and ski guides arranged by the hotel. Winter hiking paths in and around Mittersill and on Pass Thurn lead through peaceful, snow-covered landscapes. Cross-country skiers can look forward to an extensive trail network, including an alpine trail across upland moors at 1200 meters above sea level, where you gaze out in awe at an array of magnificent three-thousanders. In the Wildkogel Arena, about fifteen minutes’ drive from Mittersill, lies the longest floodlit toboggan run in the world. A gondola carries visitors up to the top; followed by a 14 km descent. Fourteen kilometers that give you lots of time to experience the alpine winter scenery in all its facets.
Panorama pool heated year-round
The castle’s heated outdoor pool is a glorious counterbalance to all of that vigorous outdoor activity. It almost seems to float above the Salzach Valley, opening towards the surrounding mountains which, in winter, appear clearer, quieter, and closer than ever.

Parkhotel Sole Paradiso: Skiing between Haunold, Helm, and Kronplatz
Snow-blanketed forests, wide fields, and the silhouettes of the Drei Zinnen on the horizon. In their midst: Parkhotel Sole Paradiso – near enough to be able to experience winter up close, and quiet enough to enjoy it all at your own pace. For alpine skiers, the winter’s day begins almost at the front door: the Haunold ski area is only a few minutes’ walk away, while the “Haunold” and “Drei Zinnen” ski bus stops right outside the hotel, providing convenient connections to the region’s bigger ski areas.
A world away from the pistes
Guided snowshoe hikes, horse-drawn sleigh rides through the Fischleintal, or strolls through the historic center of Innichen reveal another, more authentic side – and show just how varied winter away from the ski slopes can be. Beginning at the hotel, the network of cross-country ski trails in Hochpustertal gives you the opportunity to extend your XCing adventure to Fischleintal, Cortina, or even across the border into Austria. Winter hiking trails and a jogging course also begin right at the hotel, allowing you to explore the snowy countryside however you wish.

Four Schlosshotels establishments, four ways to explore winter – sometimes powerful, sometimes quiet, but always close to the mountain. Close to the moment. And to that feeling of being in the right place at the right time.
