Richard the Lionheart, the first prominent, though involuntary guest to the town of Dürnstein in the Wachau Valley, looked out on pristine countryside basically unchanged to this day. In a sunny, mild climate, beneficial not just for wines, 3 generations of the Thiery family have pampered guests since 1884 in this splendid castle hotel and former abbey. Medieval walls, regional artworks and a wonderful location give this house a unique character.
