Chronicle… of Schloss Fernstein
12th cent. A successful architectural ensemble is created.
1451 The building complex is expanded significantly under Duke Sigmund, and at the same time a castle chapel is built.
1720 On the 2nd floor, Schloss Fernstein acquiries a ceiling decorated with several portraits and beautiful stucco work. These portraits depict Emperor Joseph I and his wife, Amalia von Braunschweig-Lüneburg.
1872 King Ludwig II of Bavaria has an expensively furnished residence built for himself in Fernstein. The beauty of these landscapes have lost none of their magnetism to this day, which explains why this was one of the king’s favorite locations.
