Hotel Altstadt Vienna – The Art of Hospitality
Art – combined with charm and uniqueness – this is the recipe for success of boutique Hotel Altstadt Vienna. Since its opening in 1991, this establishment in the Artists’ Quarter of Vienna has developed into a gathering spot for art lovers, the film and music scene, as well as for individual travellers in search of a hotel with character and outstanding service. Hotel Altstadt Vienna lies close to the Ringstrasse, about a 5-minute walk from the Museumsquartier and 10 minutes from Hofburg palace. Which makes the hotel an ideal base for strolls through the historical centre of Vienna or up the longest shopping street in all of Vienna, the Mariahilferstrasse.
Designer Suites and Contemporary Art in the Centre of Vienna
45 hotel rooms and suites divided between 5 floors. Each floor, each room is unique unto itself. Comfortable, colourful designer furniture, parquet flooring with the lustre of honey, unusual lighting features and contemporary paintings turn every room into a very personal living room. Italian star architect Matteo Thun created 9 elegant designer rooms at the Altstadt Vienna. With their dark parquet, pompous chandeliers and red satin furniture, they reflect the flair of the early 20th century. Furthermore, Viennese designer duo POLKA have created two rooms with a focus on comfort, transparency and elegance. Austrian fashion designer Lena Hoschek also gave one suite her own very personal touch – floral, opulent, nostalgic. Other renowned architects, such as Dietrich/Untertrifaller, Adolf Krischanitz, Roland Nemetz and Gregor Eichinge, have each developed their own very individual rooms. Director of Vienna Design Week, Lilli Hollein, together with her husband, Markus Eiblmayer, realized her first interior project. In cooperation with Swedish design firm Svenkst Tenn, the Josef Frank Suite was created, captivating with its memorable patterns. Furniture classics from the Vienna Workshop, by Wittmann, Philippe Starck and Mies van der Rohe, can be found throughout the building.
