Castle Hotel Mittersill
Mittersill - Salzburg - Austria
A fairy-tale castle from the 12th century: Breathtaking scenery, a castle chapel and exclusive rooms provide a magical backdrop!
Deeply rooted in history. Well and truly part of the modern world. A sense of heartfelt hospitality …
These few words describe this idyllic castle in the heart of Pinzgau better than any other. The history of the castle goes all the way back to the year 1150, with so many different tales to tell. Over the course of the centuries, the original castle and today’s Schloss Mittersill was the seat of the region’s counts and princes. In their turn, the Salzburg prince archbishops also took over the castle (1228), making it the seat of the magistrates who administered the region on their behalf. In the year 1880, the castle was sold off by Austria-Hungary, subsequently having a wide variety of owners. In the 1930’s, the property was bought by a baron and converted into a luxurious residence. In 1968, the castle was re-functioned into a Christian conference, study and recreation center.
Since 2009, the castle has been owned by two local families, having been lovingly renovated step by step ever since. Due to their dedication, the castle has developed into a romantically majestic gem enthroned above Mittersill. The old west wing was remodeled and expanded with a sensitive touch, now home to a small, though quite exquisite spa area, along with an outdoor pool in the castle garden, castle bar and lounges, Windsor Lounge, sports and shooting club, castle library, media library, plus seminar and events rooms.
At Schloss Mittersill, guests are greeted by 43 castle rooms and 10 suites with complete comforts. These stylish rooms feature valuable antique furniture, fine materials and partially exclusive, modern decor. The rooms offer a breathtaking view of Hohe Tauern National Park and the Kitzbühel Alps.
SPA in the Castle
At the castle’s newly opened SPA, guests can look forward to a heated outdoor pool integrated into the castle garden with mountain views. The bio sauna, Finnish sauna, saltwater steam bath, infrared cabin and panoramic relaxation rooms invite you to relax and unwind. The fitness room, with top-notch cardio equipment, inspires guests to enjoy a great workout. In the private sauna, with its own private relaxation room, you will find an intimate place of retreat. Facials and beauty care, massages and body treatments with products featuring the high-quality SOTHYS Paris cosmetics line, can be booked in addition. The staff’s efforts and attention are dedicated squarely to your individual needs. The guest is at the center of all they do.
