SOS Children’s Village families are guests in Romantikhotel GMACHL
32 children between 1 and 14 years were accompanied by 8 SOS village mothers to live a very special Sunday and to be pampered by the GMACHL family. In addition, a special kids program was organized for their fun and amusement.
“As a host of the oldest family run business in Austria and father of two daughters, it is nice to see that associations like SOS children’s village in Seekirchen exist to offer to children in need a loving and protective family environment”, explains Fritz Hirnböck. “That’s with respect to these families why we were pleased to invite them to our hotel and restaurant.” To meet for lunch on Sundays plays a very important social role in each family.
“To satisfy the needs of the village mothers as well as their children, Helga Wallner-Flöckner organized a special kids activity program during this day”, added Michaela Hirnböck-Gmachl.
Actually, 46 children are living with 10 village-mothers in single family homes. In the average, 5 children are living together with their village family in one house. Their age is between one and 19 years but mostly young children until 6 years are living in the village.
A family consultant for each family is available to support the village mothers. Educational consultants are giving the village a helping hand concerning administration work for the youth social services of the Salzburg Land and are responsible for the educational leisure activities.
The vision of Hermann Gmeiner becomes true – worldwide. The SOS Children’s Villages believe that children can only develop to their full potential if they have a supportive and protective family environment. They work to make this a reality.
Almost every SOS village child is able to make his or her own way with the courage to face life, and who is prepared to take responsibility for him- or herself in society and, once adult, build own families.
