From the castle Mailberg you take the highway until Tulln and drive along the Wagram. Passing then the towns Mühlbach am Mannhartsberg, Maissau, Eggenburg, Pulkau, Weitersfeld, Burg Hardegg, Riegersburg, Monastery Geras and Pernegg and Altenburg and St. Leonhard am Hornerwald. After a small break you continue to the water reservoirs along the castles Krumau, Dobra and Lichtenfels Rastenfeld. Pass the castle Rastenberg until the monastery Zwettl and castle Rosenau, Groß Meinharts, castle Rappottenstein, Grafenschlag, Grainbrunn, Albrechtsberg at the Great Krems. Drive along the valley Krems by passing Senftenberg (with view to its ruin) until Krems and visit the Gozzoburg. Then drive home and be pampered by the team of the Castle Hotel Mailberg.

Stockerau – Kirchberg/Wagram – Straß – Gars/Kamp – Horn – Geras – Riegersburg – Retz – Haugsdorf – Zwingenddorf – Enzersdorf/Thale – Stockerau This tour will lead you to castles, famous monasteries and the new spa area Laa.
Starting point is Stockerau, the most southwestern edge of the forest district. Take the Horner Road (B3) towards Kirchberg until you reach Wagram, which is a gentle wine-ridge. There are many street-festivals during summer.
Continuing the B34 in direction Horn, you will reach the valley of Kamp. You will pass Hadersdorf, Langenlois and Gars, primarily known by the health center of Willi Dungl. Take your time to visit Roseburg, a Renaissance castle from the 12th century and rebuilt 400 years later.
You only have a few kilometers left to reach Horn. There you find a museum, which shows an overview of folklore, folk art and local history. Horn is also just a few kilometers away from the Castle Eggen, where 320 motorcycles of the past 100 years have exhibited in the Austrian motorcycle museum.
Continue the road B4 into the north. You pass the monastery Pernegg, which is used as a fast and seminar center nowadays. Take the federal highway B30, which leads you on in direction the Czech border to Riegersburg.
On the edge of the Valley Thaya you can have a look at the National Park Podyji-Rieger with its magnificent Baroque Castle from the 18th and 19th century. Drive back on the road B30 and enjoy the medieval town Retz. Its main square is one of the most beautiful in Austria. The largest wine cellars of Central Europe with 21 km attracts under the marketplace.
You follow the route B45 in direction Haugsdorf and Zwingendorf. The road leads in the southern direction over Großharras to Grossenzersdorf in Thale. Through the slightly curved road you reach Großmugl, a 16 meter high hill grave of pre-Chistian culture. The journey continues to Senning, before you re-reach the starting point Stockerau.

By leaving Mailberg you reach the villages Retz and Hardegg from the Valley Thaya, further Gera, Japons, Allentsteig, Rastenfeld and the water reservoirs along Krumau, St. Leonhard am Hornerwald to Gars am Kamp. Drive along the Valley Kamp to Schönberg, then through the so called bishop-forest to Elsarn, Strass im Straßertal, Hader (along the Wagram), Fels and Königsbrunn. Back in Stockerau you reach the Castle Hotel Mailberg easily.
