Altstadt Vienna in Wien

You may say I'm a dreamer

Vienna, at one time the center of an empire, remains an international city to this day, a bridgebuilder. A city that unites. And it is to that characteristic that the Altstadt Vienna pays tribute.

The former Suite Privée #73 at the Altstadt Vienna was also known by regular guests as the secret “Presidential Suite”. And after several months of remodeling – it was transformed into the United Nations Suite. Inspired by the idea of the United Nations and, not least, also by Vienna, one of the four UN headquarters.

Hotel Altstadt Vienna in Wien

"The United Nations Suite is a response to today’s tendencies towards populism, nationalism and protectionism.”

Reflected in the interconnected rooms is the idea of an open, tolerant and multilateral society. Every piece of furniture, every detail picks up that theme. Guests will encounter in the suite, for example, the East River Chair (Vitra) that was created for the UN in New York, as well as the lyrics from John Lennon’s “Imagine” on the wall. Also Le Corbusier - the mastermind behind the architecture of the UN headquarters in New York which opened in 1951 – is represented in his most famous sofa design, the LC3.
