The winery is the heart of the Holzapfel, an establishment with a rich tradition located at the Prandtauerhof in Austria’s Wachau region. The traits of their wines reflect in a special way the broad spectrum of this family: splendid companions for many different occasions, authentic, lively and full of character, delicate fruitiness, dry and compact with a complex play of aromas.
The Bründlmayer family presently manages 75 ha of primarily terraced vineyards, in the best locations around Langenlois, 50 miles west of Vienna. Among the Grüner Veltliners , are some stars like the classics “Loiser Berg” and “Berg-Vogelsang” or the incredibly opulent, fine “reserves” from the single vineyards Lamm and Käferberg. Among the Rieslings, the fruity Steinmassel competes every year with the elegantly structured Heiligenstein.
SCHLOSS GOBELSBURG is the oldest winery in the Danube area Kamptal with a documented viticultural history dating back to the 12th century, when Cistercian monks from Burgundy started to work their first vineyards in the area. Gobelsburg has been run by Michael Moosbrugger (Falstaff Winemaker of the Year 2006, Golden glass Sweden 2007) since 1996.
The winery is located in southeast Styria in the very heart of a thermal spa region, only few kilometers from the Slovenian and Hungarian borders. The vineyards of the Winery are planted on the steep slopes of a volcanic cone. The castle winery on top of the mountain has been family owend and operated since 1898.
