The most venerable hotel establishments of South Tyrol
Staying at the 4 Star Hotel Grauer Bär means to experience true tradition in modern style. Ever since know and appreciated for its excellent cuisine and exclusive choice of wines, the Bären is one of the most time-honoured hospitality establishments in South Tyrol.
The town of Innichen (San Candido), founded by Duke Tassilo III in 769, received its market charter in 1303. And this, presumably, is when the long story of Hotel Grauer Bär began.
Nine generations of Tyrolean hospitality and accommodation services
The hotel's first documented proprietor was a Konrad Maus in 1462. Dinzl, Peintner and Huber were the names of subsequent owners, until it was acquired in 1745 by Andrä Kopfsgueter. Since that time, the hotel has been in the possession of the same family, now in its ninth generation.
The Hotel Grauer Bär has always preserved the authentic and sought the new. We find here an harmonious intermingling of design and history, as attested to by the 28 rooms, each furnished with abundant love for every detail.
Wine & Dine at the Bären
The kitchen team conjures up refined, innovative creations from special local and regional ingredients, Mediterranean dishes and international delicacies. Aside from outstanding cuisine, owner and host Franz Ladinser sets great store in his well-sorted wine cellar. Guests appreciate the hotel's central location, its authentic atmosphere, the heartfelt hospitality, and the close bonds to history and tradition.
