Puchner Estate

The monarch bestowed the estate and its three small communities upon imperial general, Baron Antal Puchner, in 1841.
Construction of the palace in Bikal was begun at the end of the 1840's. Its final form that we recognise today was not attained until 1889. In 1979, the palace was designated as a historic building.
Its Hungarian owner purchased the building in 1993 and, after three years of renovations, the palace was opened as a three-star hotel with 17 rooms. After 12 years of ongoing efforts, the palace now awaits its discriminating guests with 82 rooms and four-star quality.
 
Schlosshotel Puchner lies in Southern Transdanubia, some 50 km from Pécs, at the foot of the Mecsek range and in the midst of a small village known as Bikal. The hotel stands on ca. 6 hectares of park grounds which are flanked by long-standing trees. Located in the park itself is a bath house, constructed in a French and Moroccan style, a beauty salon, outdoor pool, sports centre with a Medieval atmosphere, grill terrace, conference centre, three guesthouses, the stately home itself and the reception.

In our hotel, guests can select from rooms with a diversity of flair:

• Rooms featuring contemporary furnishings in the palace building 
• Rooms decorated in a Mediterranean style, both in the bath house and guesthouse 
• Rooms with a French decor in the stately home 

Our exclusive restaurant and wine vault greets wine aficionados who savour very special aromas and exquisite flavour. We welcome children with our petting zoo, children's playground with creative wooden toys, a kiddy pool and, in a room of the stately home itself, a children's corner.
