The Bergschlössl in St. Anton is a veritable piece of old Austria, constructed in 1905/06 by the Imperial Railways as a customs and excise office.
After the demise of the Danube Monarchy, today’s Bergschlössl served as the practice of Dr. Hans Schalle, a renowned physician of his time, and later as a family-run guesthouse.  Since then, it has remained in the care of the Moosbruggers, a family of hoteliers whose empire also includes the world-famous “Post” in Lech and the outstanding winery at Schloss Gobelsburg in Lower Austria.
Under the direction and planning of Johanna S. Moosbrugger, the historic building was renovated with loving attention to detail.  The owner, herself, set her hand to painting the Delft tiles in the luxury bathrooms. The façade and the lift doors are adorned with artworks by the famous painter, Günter Wasmeier, father of Olympic Champion, Markus Wasmeier. Regular guests notice fascinating new touches each and every year.
Nowadays, the Bergschlössl may not count itself amongst the biggest, though it is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, one of the most comfortable establishments of its kind (of which there is no shortage in the Arlberg region). Our numerous regulars cherish this house, perhaps all else, for its warm, cosy and very private atmosphere.
Ten rooms and suites, each with its own name and unmistakable character, provide a delightful setting in which to while away moments of wonderful relaxation. Many of these also feature kitchenettes, a fireplace and tiled stove. And at the beginning and end of the season, it is even possible to reserve them all “in one fail swoop” for your special family occasion.

Special Features:
It is possible to rent out the entire Bergschlössl for family occasions and other special events. The Salettl and the garden are wonderful party venues.  We would be glad to assist in organising a program of fringe activities.

Recreational Opportunities:
Mountain hikes, the St. James Trail, Rhododendron Trail, mountain-bike tours, Hiking Dialogues, Mountain Film Festival, exceptional starting point for mountain drives with vintage cars and motorbikes. Enjoy relaxing in the garden and reading a good book. Spend your vacation amid the atmosphere of an elegant private home, combined with all the amenities of a small castle hotel. Located at the foot of one of the world’s most beautiful ski areas. If you fall out of bed, you’ll find yourself sitting in the ski lift!  And we are surrounded by a beautiful garden.
