Rising up out of the forests beyond Pörtschach Bay and standing high above the Carinthian plains, is a castle for whom the phrase “as old as the hills” could not be more apt. Schloss Moosburg is actually even older than the 1000-year-old “Ostarrichi” (the ancient name for the region we now know as Austria). Back in the year 888, the Carolingian King Karlman constructed a castle in this geographically and politically important setting, from which King Arnulf was later to govern the land. During the course of its storied history, the old Moosburg was to change hands frequently, destroyed and then rebuilt anew, and standing empty for the longest time – only a few years ago was it restored and remodelled into an enchantingly magical castle for discerning guests. Our goal is to ensure that all of our guests feel like they have spent a holiday amongst friends. Each room has been designed with an abundance of good taste, awareness of and sensitivity for ancient traditions, but also with much thought to modern hotel comforts. And what applies to the warm and welcoming guest rooms, also goes for the late-gothic Knights’ Hall, which is available year-round for vernissages, special events and concerts by renowned artists. Schloss Moosburg also provides the perfect setting for your wedding celebrations. Allow us to pamper you in our Beauty Department, enjoying the exceptional treatment programmes we offer there.
